World Wind Turbine Map aims to be a single, continuously updated map of every wind turbine worldwide, together with available technical metadata such as manufacturer, model, rated power, and hub height. The underlying dataset is generated automatically by combining OpenStreetMap with official public sources such as national wind turbine registers, and is refreshed on a regular schedule to stay as current as possible. The combined dataset is free to download and reuse, including for commercial purposes, subject to the attribution requirement described below. World Wind Turbine Map is operated by ventodyne GmbH.

The displayed and downloadable turbine data is compiled from the sources listed under Third-Party Acknowledgements below, which ventodyne merges and reformats through an automated data pipeline into a single combined dataset. This merged dataset is offered by ventodyne under the ODbL v1.0. You may copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt (including for commercial purposes) this dataset or extracts of it, provided you comply with the ODbL's attribution and share-alike requirements, including the attribution statement below.

World Wind Turbine Map combines the data sources below into the merged dataset described under Data licence & terms above, each provided to us under its own original licence terms:

OpenStreetMap (worldwide) – © OpenStreetMap contributors, queried via the Overpass API, licensed under the ODbL v1.0.
Germany's Marktstammdatenregister (MaStR) – the German Federal Network Agency's (Bundesnetzagentur) official register of power-generation units, used only for turbines located in Germany, provided as open government data.
The United States Wind Turbine Database (USWTDB) – a joint product of the USGS, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the American Clean Power Association, used only for turbines located in the United States. A U.S. Government work in the public domain, with no copyright restrictions.
Sweden's Vindbrukskollen, a joint service of Länsstyrelserna and Energimyndigheten, used only for turbines located in Sweden. The data may be copied, processed, and redistributed free of charge, provided Länsstyrelsen is credited as the source.
Denmark's Stamdataregister for vindkraftanlæg, Energistyrelsen – the Danish Energy Agency's official master-data register for wind turbines, used only for turbines located in Denmark, provided as publicly available Danish government register data.
France's Géorisques, Éolien terrestre – the official French onshore wind turbine register published by Géorisques, a partnership between the French Ministry for Ecological Transition and BRGM, used only for turbines located in France, licensed under the Etalab Licence Ouverte v2.0.
Canada's Canadian Wind Turbine Database (CanWTD) – the official Canadian wind turbine register published by Natural Resources Canada / CanmetENERGY-Ottawa on the Government of Canada Open Data portal, used only for turbines located in Canada, provided under the Open Government Licence – Canada.
